Abstract

The prevalence of dental caries and periodontal disease is high in society and has a broad impact, namely disruption to quality of life, including functional limitations, physical disability, psychological discomfort and disability. The aim of the research was to determine the effectiveness of using oral health care videos on oral hygiene and student behavior. This type of research is quasi-experimental research with a Pre Test and Post Test Control Group Design research design model. The research population was SLB students of Prof. Dr. Sri Soedewi Maschjun Sofwan, SH as the treatment group and students of SLB Negeri 1 Jambi City as the control group. In the treatment group, they were given counseling and a video on how to brush their teeth and maintaining dental health which could be watched repeatedly at home, while in the control group they were given counseling and a video showing which they could only watch once. The measuring instrument used is PHPM. Students' knowledge, attitudes and behavior are seen using a questionnaire. Data analysis to see pre and post differences after intervention in dental and oral hygiene status, knowledge, attitudes and behavior of students, with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test.          The results of the study showed that there were significant differences in the dental and oral hygiene status of children, as well as attitudes before and after treatment in students (p<0.05). For knowledge and action, there were no significant differences (p>0.05) between before and after treatment, Recommendations from In this research, parents are encouraged to be more active in motivating their children to maintain oral health by using videos on how to brush their teeth properly and correctly.
