Abstract

Breastfeeding technique is one of the factors that affect milk production, if the breastfeeding technique is not correct it can also cause sore nipples and make the mother reluctant to breastfeed. Breast milk in infants has short and long-term benefits for infants such as reducing the incidence of diarrhea, reducing the incidence of pneumonia, reducing the risk of obesity, reducing the risk of diabetes, and increasing the intellectual intelligence of infants. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between breastfeeding technique and the incidence of sore nipples in primiparous postpartum mothers in Sruni Village, Klakah. The cross-sectional study design was used on 27 primiparous postpartum mothers in Sruni Village, Klakah. The measurement tools used in this study were a questionnaire on breastfeeding techniques and an observation sheet on the incidence of sore nipples. While the test used is the chi-square test to answer the purpose of this study. The results showed that the majority of mothers with the wrong breastfeeding technique were 17 respondents (63%), and mothers with sore nipples were 22 respondents (81.5%). There is a significant relationship between breastfeeding technique and the incidence of chafed nipples in primipara postpartum women in Sruni Village, Klakah, namely p-value 0.001. So it can be concluded that the correct breastfeeding technique can reduce the incidence of sore nipples
