Abstract

Pregnancy exercise plays a role in strengthening contractions and maintaining the flexibility of the muscles of the abdominal wall, ligaments, pelvic floor muscles, and others related to childbirth. For the time of pregnancy exercise, it is recommended to be carried out when pregnancy enters the third trimester. Perineum that has never been stretched before allows a stiff or less elastic perineum to be able to pass through the baby's head so that it can be an indication of episiotomy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of pregnancy exercise on the incidence of episiotomy (rigid perineum) in primigravida mothers at Kunir Primary Health Care, Kunir Lumajang. The type of research used was analytic in nature with a population of 43 people using random sampling and obtained a sample of 37 primigravida mothers at Kunir Primary Health Care. Using the attendance sheet instrument for pregnancy exercise and the partograph sheet for birthing mothers. Based on the results of the study, there was a significant influence between pregnancy exercise and episiotomy (stiff perineum) in primigravida mothers at Kunir Primary Health Care, namely the p-value of 0.000, which is less than the value of α = 5% (p = 0.05). Suggestions put forward, by research sites should increase the promotion of pregnancy exercise so that pregnant women participate more regularly in pregnancy exercise so as to minimize episiotomy.
